How to lower iPad display resolution in sidecar mode

Problem

When using an iPad as an external sidecar display, the resolution is too high, making the text unreadable.

Solution 1

I noticed that the iPad’s resolution is lowered when I enable the “Show Sidebar” or “Show Touch Bar” options (MacBook display settings > iPad). The sidebar takes up a small portion of the screen, but I can live with that.

Solution 2

Using the iPad’s zoom function (Settings > Accessibility > Zoom) is one option, but it reduces the quality and may not be optimal.
